Winter Rowing

With temperatures dropping and a definite chill hanging in the air, it’s the perfect time to remind our members and other river users to take care when out on the water. While the foggy mornings and fantastic sun rises are sensational experiences; it’s important we stay aware.

Top Tips

Sensible clothing is a must; multiple layers are best and a woolly hat really helps keep the heat in.
Extra care should be taken when steering into low sun. Check, check, check, check and check again for other rowers and possible obstacles.
Be aware when using the steps. They can be icy before AND after outings. Always check and look out for others.
If rowing during darkness, make sure your crew are visible with brightly coloured / white tops and high beam lights on both the bow and stern of the boat.

Is it summer yet…?
