It was another busy weekend of hard multi-lane racing for YCRC crews from across the squads
YCRC sent two crews to National School’s Regatta at Dorney Lake: Lucy and Katharina in the Champ 2x, and the Boy’s J184x. One of the highlights of the junior racing season, the regatta always produces tight racing of a high standard. Our crews stepped up to the challenge, the 4x coming 4th in the C Final, and the 2x finishing a fabulous 5th in the A Final – well done! Results and YouTube streams of racing can be found here.
Whilst the juniors were busy on one multi-lane course, the senior and masters crews headed to Nottingham for Nottingham City and Nottingham Club & Masters Regattas, on Saturday and Sunday respectively.
The conditions were less than kind for both events, but on Saturday the YCRC crews put in gusty rows during some close racing in the M4- and 1x despite the white caps. Our HWR-bound W4x of Sophy, Helen W, Helen S and Louise were pipped to 4th by some strong competition in the unbanded W4x event in the morning, but took a comfortable win in the Band 3 final later that afternoon.
Sunday saw the vet squads take to the (literal) waves in the Nottingham Masters and Club regatta. Some tough racing saw a third place for the MasE4+, a second for Hilary and Paula in WMasE2x, and 5th for Margit in a YCRC/Trentham Composite WMasC2x, but also a slew of pots for the women: Anne in WMasD1x, Philippa and Karen in WMasE/F2-, Liz and Louise in the WMasF2x, and the WMas D/E8+. In the WMasD/E4+, two YCRC crews battled it out with Durham and each other, with the bragging rights going this time to the D crew for a YCRC 1/2. Bring on Nat Vets!
