A flotilla of YCRC 2-person crews headed to London this weekend for the annual Pairs Head, with a host of different 2xs from across the squads (J18, WJ18, MixMasB/C and WMas D/E) as well as an intrepid 2- from our senior men.
Conditions were fair for the racers, and the race passed without incident – a relief for those familiar with the unpredictability of the Tideway. The YCRC crews were lead home by our J182x of Alfie & Conor , who came in at a fantastic 73rd overall.
Standout result of the day was our WJ18 of Lu & Kat racing in the WJ18 Champ 2x. Their storming row saw them coming second by 1.5 seconds to their category winner, Henley RC, whilst recording the 7th fastest time of a women’s crew that day.
It was a great result from the Lu and Kat, who will be heading next week to the British Senior Championships where they will race in the U19 category – best of luck girls, Go York!
Thanks to Paul for trailering the boats on the long journey south and back (on top of racing!), and to the Pairs Head organisers, Barnes Bridge Ladies Rowing Club.
